City Clerk
The City Clerk position is one of the oldest in local government. The Clerk acts as the historian of the community, maintaining records of the municipality. Some of the other duties of the City Clerk include being the custodian of the City’s Official Seal, Elections, Budget, Finances and Board Meeting Minutes.
Tax Collection
The City of Hernando currently has an agreement with Desoto County to collect all City taxes.
Municipal Elections
Municipal Elections are held in May and June every four (4) years. The next scheduled election is in 2021. Special Elections are held when necessary.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
All invoices or claims incurred by the City are paid from this office. Claims are approved by the Board of Aldermen on the first (1st) and third (3rd) Tuesday of each month.
