Join us as DeSoto County celebrates Earth Day around the historic DeSoto County Courthouse. This is a FREE event with exhibits from over 50 organization and numerous kid's activities. Christmas Farmers Market in conjunction with the Hernando Dickens of a Christmas Friday evening, November 11 at 6pm & Saturday, November 12 from 9am - 5pm Hernando Dickens of a Christmas
Located on the quaint historic Town Square and is open each Saturday from April through the end of October. The market features, locally grown fruits and vegetables as well as fresh local milk, pork, cage-free eggs, local honey, canned and preserved items, knife sharpening, natural soaps and lotions, nursery plants, baked goods, cut flowers, herbs, fresh salsa, hummus and guacamole and more.
Enjoy live music, free fitness classes and special events that will take place during market hours. The Children's Day Power of Produce (POP) program and Senior Days are a monthly occurrence. Credit cards and SNAP/EBT can be redeemed at the farmers market table for tokens to be used at vendor booths. WIC & Senior Vouchers are accepted. As a Mississippi Certified Market, designated by the Department of Agriculture and Commerce, you can be assured of fresh local food and products.

The 19th Annual Mudbug Bash benefiting Palmer Home for Children presented by Sky Lake Construction offers an opportunity to enjoy live music, great food, a silent auction, and a whole lot of fun – all for a great cause!
Each year, Panola Street in historic downtown Hernando is transformed into an outdoor event venue in support of Palmer Home’s mission to rescue and restore children in need. We hope you’ll join us for our 19th annual event!

The Hernando Optimist Club hosts the A'Fair every year on the 3rd Saturday of May. This event started in August 1974 and continues to grow every year. All of the activities are held on the beautiful historic downtown square in Hernando, Mississippi. The Hernando A'Fair is a "rain or shine" event. There is no admission fee and parking is free.

The A'Fair starts off at 7:30am with the Laurie L. Wylie Memorial 5K Race. Registration is held on Center Street across from the Trustmark Bank parking lot.
All proceeds go directly to the Laurie L. Wylie Education Fund.

The 10-kilometer race, which will start at Hernando’s Town Square, featuring a course that will wind through the city’s scenic, tree-lined streets in the shadow of the Hernando Water Tower.
Proceeds from the race benefit Hernando Excel By 5 Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL) with a goal to improve early childhood education by making sure kids have access to age appropriate books. Every child who is enrolled in DPIL between the ages of one month old to five years old, will receive one book a month until their fifth birthday. More info: 662-449-9127. Water Tower 10K

Hernando Dickens of a Christmas & Chamber of Commerce Christmas Open House
Step back in time to the Victorian Era at Hernando Dickens of a Christmas November 8th and 9th with a Hernando Farmers Market Christmas Market, all-day performances on the Mobile Shell stage, Victorian characters, Santa photos, carriage and trolley rides, ice skating, a high tea, holiday craft and family activities and so much more! This event runs in conjunction with the Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce Christmas Open House.
The weekend commences with the Chamber of Commerce Christmas tree lighting, story time with the mayor and a movie on the courthouse lawn on Friday night.
